Cafe One Trainee

Cafe One Trainee role within Mission Australia’s social-enterprise Cafe One. The program provides hands-on hospitality training for young people (16–25) to gain real-world experience and a Certificate I in Hospitality, including barista training and basic food preparation. Key duties include taking customer orders, serving food and coffees, operating the cash register and processing cash/EFT payments, setting up and packing down the Café One van, maintaining equipment and supplies, following food safety and workplace health and safety practices, and participating in events and promotional activities. No formal qualifications are required; trainees must be willing to enrol in the Certificate I in Hospitality. Weekend availability is required, with potential for additional hours during events. A valid driver licence with no restrictions and own transport are preferred. The role is on-site at Townsville locations with a focus on hands-on learning, community engagement, and development of hospitality and customer-service skills.
