Job Summary
Prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages according to Club recipes, presentation standards, and responsible-service guidelines. Set up the bar before service, ensuring liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, ice, glassware, and supplies are properly stocked and organized. Greet members and their guests immediately with a smile, make beverage recommendations, and answer questions accurately. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and fully stocked bar throughout each shift by washing glassware and cleaning bar tools. Accurately enter orders into the POS system, process member checks, and close out shifts by verifying checks and submitting paperwork. Work a flexible full-time schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand written and verbal directions in English at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with members, guests, colleagues, and management
- At least six months of bartending, food and beverage, or private-club service experience
- Previous experience using a Point of Sale (POS) system
- Must meet all applicable age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages
- Must possess a working knowledge of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, including beer, wine, spirits, classic cocktails, and proper pouring techniques
- Must understand responsible alcohol service, bar sanitation, glassware, beverage presentation, cash and member-account handling, and appropriate equipment and safety procedures
- Must be able to stand and move at a quick pace for several hours at a time
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 35 pounds, including furniture, glassware, dishes, ice, beer, wine, liquor, beverage racks, trays, and cases
- Must be available for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must maintain a professional, welcoming appearance and comply with all Club uniform and grooming standards, including wearing a name tag
- Must be able to check identification when required and follow all applicable alcohol-service regulations
