CAE Methods Technical Specialist – Structures & Fatigue

Job Summary
Lead development and industrialization of CAE methods for structural durability, fatigue, and fracture across vehicle and propulsion programs; define the technical vision and roadmap for next-generation CAE methods, validate and deploy new or improved simulation methods and workflows, lead high-visibility capability initiatives, and mentor engineers. Drive cross-functional alignment between simulation, test, design, manufacturing, and product development; partner with software suppliers and external experts to shape tool development; establish validation strategies grounded in physical behavior and statistical soundness; influence program execution and risk reduction through robust engineering decisions. The role is hybrid and involves coordinating with testing and validation teams, with broad scope across structural durability and manufacturing effects simulation.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a closely related field
- 10+ years of industry experience in structures, durability, fatigue, or fracture methods development
- Extensive experience in virtual engineering, structural analysis, and CAE methods development with depth in fatigue, fracture, and durability simulation
- Expert knowledge of structural CAE theory, methods, and tools (Abaqus, HyperMesh, SimLab, Nastran, fe-safe, nCode, Verity, Simufact, TFAT, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated ability to develop or significantly improve engineering methods, workflows, standards, or systems and translate concepts into practical enterprise applications
- Proven track record solving complex technical problems through independent judgment and conceptual thinking
- Strong ability to lead large cross-functional technical initiatives and influence decisions without formal authority
- Experience communicating complex technical issues across disciplines and levels
- Experience working with testing and validation organizations to correlate analysis with physical evidence and establish robustness
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and elevate other engineers through technical coaching and knowledge transfer
- Strong business acumen and understanding of how simulation methods influence program execution, risk reduction, investment efficiency, and customer outcomes
- Recognition by peers as a technical leader and trusted expert in the field
