CAE Engineering Intern - Fall 2026

Job Summary
Analyze structures using analytical and finite element methods by creating and analyzing finite element models with analysis software. Collaborate with a team of engineers on engineering programs supporting automotive, theme park entertainment, and aerospace industries. This 40-hour-per-week paid internship is located in Livonia, MI and requires a mechanical engineering student with strong coursework in solid mechanics and finite element analysis. Apply analytical techniques to mechanical engineering problems while gaining hands-on experience with CAE software such as Nastran, Abaqus, or ANSYS.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a similar discipline
- Available to work 40 hours per week Monday-Friday
- Minimum sophomore standing at a college or university
- Strong course work solid Mechanics, Finite Element Analysis, and Numerical methods
- Proficient in MS Office
- Strong desire to learn to apply analytical techniques to mechanical engineering problems
- Willingness and desire to get hands-on experience
Desired Qualifications
- Pursuing a master's degree in mechanical engineering or a similar discipline
- Prior internship experience in mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of machine learning / artificial intelligence applications in engineering
- Experience using CAE software (Nastran, Abaqus, ANSYS)
- Mechanical project team experience (Formula SAE / Baja / EV / Entertainment Industry)
