CAD Technician

Job Summary
Create plans and schematics using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D to support project pursuits and ongoing civil engineering work. Modify drawings to produce interim work surfaces, prepare quantity take-offs for estimates, and assist in processing raw point clouds into Digital Terrain Models. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop technical solutions, conduct quality control checks, and maintain organized filing systems for all documentation. Present drafts to stakeholders for review and ensure accurate representation of site conditions. This role requires occasional site visits for 25% of the time, may involve overtime, and includes a valid driver's license. Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, including 2D and 3D drafting
- Knowledge of drafting techniques, engineering standards, and map projections
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members, engineers, and clients
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines
- Capable of identifying issues with designs and proposing solutions to resolve them
- 4+ years of experience working as an AutoCAD Operator or in a similar design/drafting role
- 1+ years of experience performing quantity takeoffs
- Must have and maintain a valid state issued Driver's License with driving record that meets Saiia's risk management guidelines
- Estimated travel requirement 25% of time
Desired Qualifications
- Diploma, or Associate's or bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred
- Familiarity with graphics design software like Adobe Illustrator is a plus
