Job Summary
CAD/Product Definition Mechanical Designer sought to translate engineering intent into fully parametric 3D Inventor models and 2D drawings, manage BOMs and configuration-controlled documentation, support ASME Y14.5 GD&T practices, and contribute to a PLM-enabled Digital Twin/Digital Thread environment. Responsibilities include creating and refining 3D CAD models and assemblies, developing engineering drawings, applying GD&T, controlling revisions, maintaining data in CAD/PDM/PLM systems (e.g., Autodesk Vault), and collaborating with design engineers, drafters, technicians, vendors, and field personnel from concept through fabrication, installation, test, sustainment, and future configuration updates. Travel up to ~25% to customer, vendor, fabrication, or test locations. Travel-ready and able to obtain/maintain a US Government Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required). Based in Edmonds, WA, with periodic field support.”,
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, Industrial Design, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline
- Equivalent practical experience may be considered
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical CAD experience using Autodesk Inventor in a manufacturing, test-system, industrial, aerospace, defense, or product-development environment
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance
- Please note US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance
- Demonstrated ability to create and modify mechanical parts, assemblies, and production-level engineering drawings
- Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing practices
- Experience supporting design changes, drawing revisions, BOM updates, and configuration-controlled documentation
- Ability to interpret sketches, redlines, vendor drawings, legacy drawings, field measurements, and verbal engineering direction
- Experience working within a structured CAD data-management environment, such as Autodesk Vault, PDM, PLM, or similar configuration-controlled systems
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy, model integrity, documentation quality, and configuration discipline
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, drafters, technicians, vendors, fabricators, and field personnel
