Job Summary
Create and revise engineering deliverables including P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, detailed fabrication drawings, and 2D/3D models using AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks. Interpret project information and meeting minutes to ensure technical drawing packages meet specifications and safety regulations. Manage deliverables to meet scope and schedule by monitoring, reviewing, and checking work products for accuracy and timeliness. Collaborate with engineers, architects, and clients to support pre-contract and contract work, finding innovative methods for piping and equipment layouts. Support the development of a design database of components and design standards while complying with Fuel Tech policies and industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- four-year technical degree (a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering preferred)
- minimum of 2 years of demonstrated design experience with evidence of increasing responsibilities, design proficiency and innovative design skills
- Familiarity with working on projects in the power, specialty chemical, or oil and gas industries
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
- Knowledge and use of other CAD packages such as OnShape and SolidWorks
- Must have experience with parametric modeling
- Experience using technical tools such as FEA analysis, various mechanical design/modeling software packages, and more
- Must possess a strong knowledge of machining and fabrication tolerances and apply those appropriately for a given assignment
- Requires significant experience with the design of industrial piping systems for both conveyance of both gases and liquids
- a working knowledge of piping, mechanical, and structural components common in process systems (including pumps, valves, and instrumentation)
- a general familiarity with electrical equipment and controls
- Requires practical experience with process industry standards and safety codes including ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, NFPA, and IBC
- Demonstrated abilities for overcoming design challenges and fabrication issues related to custom-designed process equipment
- Proficient in equipment and component layout to ensure proper fit and ease of construction and maintenance

Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with pipe stress analysis software (Bentley Auto PIPE, CAESAR II) is a plus
