Job Summary
CAD Manager leading the CAD design and document control across water utilities projects in the UK. Oversee the CAD process from initial design through final documentation, lead CAD design outputs to standards, mentor CAD technicians, manage licensing and software/hardware needs, and develop CAD structures and activities to support innovative practices. Role involves delivering high-quality design solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes, working within a multi-disciplinary team across the full project lifecycle (feasibility, optioneering, detailed design, construction, commissioning) and ensuring delivery to programme while liaising with clients and suppliers. Requires BIM leadership experience, proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Civils 3D and related tools, and a proactive, collaborative approach in a public utilities context. Location options include Glasgow or Durham (UK), with in-person work; salary range £48,500-£60,000 (DOE).
Required Qualifications
- A relevant degree qualification or completed apprenticeship with a technical qualification (HNC, HND etc.)
- Basic understanding of the design of water/wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure works
- Good understanding of BIM on a project and ability to lead its implementation
- Computer literacy with MS Office, SharePoint and Autodesk Construction Cloud ACC, AutoCAD, Autodesk Bridge, Revit, Civils 3D, Datum 360 or related engineering packages
- Familiarity with water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure design techniques
- Knowledge of client and water market context
- Ability to deliver to programme and escalate issues affecting delivery
- Understanding of Quality Management System processes and procedures
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication and organisational skills
- Team-oriented with a drive for continuous improvement
