Job Summary
Create intermediate jewelry pieces from start to finish with limited supervision, translating design concepts into physical forms within established timelines. Execute complex projects and forms with less-detailed direction, ensuring files are properly set up for mechanisms like claps and linkages. Review vendor CAD files for visual viability and provide aesthetic feedback to strategic partners while suggesting workflow improvements. Work in a team environment to adhere to functional and aesthetic objectives, utilizing Rhino CAD software and rapid prototyping where applicable. Located in Tribeca, NY, this role offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $55 to $60.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5-7 years of CAD experience specific to jewelry
- knowledge of complex jewelry construction
- knowledge of precious and non-precious metal properties
- proficiency in creating solid, workable polysurface files
- Experienced with modifying and repairing mesh objects
- working knowledge of mechanisms such as hinges and clasps
- Proficient in Rhino CAD software
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to read and interpret design rendering and engineering documents
- Must have excellent communication skills
- ability to work in a team environment
- Four year BA or BS degree in Design with an emphasis in 3-D Jewelry Design
- equivalent in Jewelry Industry work experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with rapid prototyping machines
- Experience with 3-D Coat or comparable sculpting software
