CAD Engineering Designer (Part Time)

Job Summary

Maintain up-to-date factory key drawings and archives while supporting engineers with layouts, flow sheets, and fabrication details for new products and line improvements. Prepare specifications, bid packages, and technical guidelines using AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, and BIM360 to ensure consistent standards across architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. Manage small building upgrade projects, coordinate project turnover, and provide training to factory engineers and contractors. Travel 10-20% to factory and vendor sites to support resident project requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to travel to other factory and vendor locations
  • Travel expectations of 10-20%
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, 3D, and Autodesk Inventor
  • Ability to create industrial drawings for equipment tooling, layouts, process flow sheets, P&IDs, and fabrication details
  • Ability to assemble bid packages following AIA specifications
  • Ability to execute small projects
  • Ability to ensure factory key drawings are kept up-to-date and properly archived
  • Ability to establish layouts and flow sheets during conceptual and basic design phases
  • Ability to propose and define different alternatives to support Early Management principles
  • Ability to support engineers with technical concepts and basic design for operational projects
  • Ability to update and coordinate technical guidelines and specifications
  • Ability to maintain and ensure standards for engineering drawings are consistently applied
  • Ability to organize Engineering Drawing and manuals in both paper and electronic format
  • Ability to digitize drawings
  • Ability to provide training to factory engineers or third-party contractors
  • Ability to manage small building improvement/upgrade projects with contractor supervision
  • Ability to support the Engineering Department with SAP and NIMT Administration

Desired Qualifications

  • College degree in a related field
  • Professional certification in industrial design/drafting, specifically using AutoCAD
  • 4 - 6 years of experience in industrial design
  • Work experience in a TPM environment
  • AutoDesk Inventor or AutoCAD factory design suite experience
  • Familiarity with applicable hygiene details for food plant design
  • Ability to prepare architectural, mechanical, and electrical designs
  • Familiarity with multiple engineering discipline coordination, planning and execution
  • Strong drafting and documentation skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment as well as cross-functionally across divisions
  • Work sequence-planning skills
  • Ability to work within multiple teams
  • Familiarity with SAP
  • Good conceptual and technical problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based programs
