Job Summary
Use computer-aided drafting tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation to prepare construction drawings for natural gas pipelines, substations, and electrical projects. Confer with design engineers to resolve problems, create construction documents, and learn to prepare quantity take-offs. Work under the direction of senior designers to manage design records, maintain files, and complete as-built drawings while developing the ability to fulfill assignments requiring independent judgment. This entry-level role supports NV5's mission to deliver engineering solutions across six verticals, fostering career growth through peer-learning and knowledge sharing with experienced designers.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years' experience in the utility, electrical, or civil industry
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Positive attitude, able to collaboratively work with others
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant software
- Fundamental training in the use of computer-aided drafting software, including CAD Suite, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Revit
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate of Training in technical drafting or equivalent work in an engineering environment
- Experience drafting civil or utility drawings
- 1-2 years of AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
