Job Summary
CAD Drafter/Designer split duties 50/50 between designing and producing Production Documents (PD). Read project specs, floorplans, blueprints, and schedules. Use 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD primary, Inventor secondary) to create shop files and drawings for estimating and fabrication. Prepare fabrication work using AutoCAD, Access, Inventor, and Excel. Generate Bills of Materials and production documents for fabrication. Ensure timely output of drawings for customer review. Maintain attention to detail and quality; streamline processes with software tools. Collaborate with Fabrication, Purchasing, and Shipping to satisfy customers. Convert fractions and basic algebraic functions. Assist with new product development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience with 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD and Inventor)
- Ability to generate BOMs
- Ability to prepare production documents
- Attention to detail and quality orientation
- Strong keyboard/microsoft office skills (Excel, Access)
- Ability to read project specifications, floorplans, blueprints
- Team-oriented with Fabrication, Purchasing, Shipping
- Self-motivated and reliable
- Good communication skills (oral and written)
- Familiarity with metal fabrication methods and materials
- Ability to work independently under supervision
- Experience with producing shop files/drawings for fabrication
