Job Summary
Designer III leads complex 3D modeling and produces production-ready drawings and BOMs with minimal direction. Drives CAD standards, mentors lower-level designers, reviews work for quality and manufacturability, and supports continuous improvement across the CAD group. Responsibilities include advanced modeling, maintaining CAD libraries and templates, ensuring documentation and file-management quality, coordinating schedules, and assisting with design issues and cross-department challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field
- Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of CAD-related experience or demonstrated equivalent competency
- CAD-related experience or the ability to demonstrate CAD competency
- Leadership training or 1 year experience preferred
- Willingness and ability to train and lead up to three employees
- Expert AutoCAD proficiency
- Expert SolidWorks proficiency, SolidWorks certification
- Familiarity with fabrication equipment
- Familiarity with construction principles
- Detail oriented
- Strong understanding of full unit build structure and components
- Ability to work with a team and independently
- Ability to collaborate with a team and communicate effectively
