Job Summary
The Cabler 1 Operator is a medium skilled role responsible for safe and efficient operation of cabling machines, including loading/unloading reels, making hook splices, reading and interpreting production orders, selecting and installing tooling to meet specifications, and adjusting lay length and binder tightness. Duties include loading binders and fillers, operating the longitudinal taping head, and monitoring quality under ISO systems; perform machine inspections, manage scrap, participate in cross-training, and rotate within the workgroup. Focus is on producing high-quality products on time, maintaining housekeeping, safety compliance, and following all applicable quality and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must read, write, and speak English; Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- Must be able to stand and lift heavy loads for long periods of time
- Must be able to work under supervision and communicate with supervisor and peers
- Responsible for completing production orders to customer specifications
- Operator is responsible for machine inspections
- Put scrap into designated scrap bins
- Cross-training within the facility workgroup
- Rotate on a set frequency within the workgroup to maintain skill proficiency
- Maintain ISO Quality System documentation guidance for daily quality activities
- Maintain general housekeeping and follow safety rules
- Perform quality checks and inspections of products before release
- Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE
- Understand and apply Job Hazard Analyses and Safety Data Sheets
- Maintain 5S standards and environmental rules
