Cable Routing Engineer

Job Summary
Develop cable routing layouts and detailed designs in line with project specifications and industry standards. Produce and review cable routing drawings, including tray layouts, ladder systems, and conduit runs, while ensuring all designs consider installation feasibility, maintainability, and health & safety requirements. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and project engineering teams to integrate routing solutions, carry out cable segregation studies, and support material take-offs for procurement. Resolve technical queries, attend design reviews, and maintain accurate documentation of engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in cable routing, layout design or a similar electrical engineering function
- Familiarity with cable containment systems (tray, ladder, trunking, conduit, etc.)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and standards
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, EPLAN or similar)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively within a team
- HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Desired Qualifications
- Experience within power generation, energy, oil & gas or industrial sectors
- Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. BS, IEC or equivalent)
- Understanding of cable sizing, routing optimisation and installation constraints
