Cable Harness Design Engineering Manager

Job Summary
Direct a team of 5-10 design engineers and drafters in the design and development of complex cable assemblies and wire harnesses, focusing on harness architecture, interconnect design, routing, and build documentation. Own engineering deliverables against program schedules, including drawings, GD&T packages, BOMs, and qualification test plans, while reviewing and approving design changes. Lead root-cause investigations for quality escapes and serve as the engineering interface to Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales on active programs. Drive standardization of CAD workflows and implement process improvements to reduce design cycle time and first-pass yield issues. Manage hiring, performance reviews, and succession planning for the design team while supporting new business proposals with technical scoping and feasibility assessments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- Minimum 5 years of engineering leadership experience multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Experience leading new product development from concept through production
- Working knowledge of MIL-DTL and MIL-PRF specifications, GD&T, and mil-spec drawing standards
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and assembly documentation
- Strong knowledge of AS9100, PLM systems, configuration management, and engineering change processes
- Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent programs and competing priorities in a manufacturing environment
- U.S Citizen or Permanent Resident to satisfy ITAR requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or equivalent preferred)
