Job Summary

Maintain a professional, alert security presence by monitoring entrances, exits, and common areas while conducting routine interior and exterior foot patrols. Respond to disturbances and emergencies using verbal de-escalation techniques, and coordinate with property management, law enforcement, and emergency medical services as needed. Observe and report suspicious activity, complete accurate daily activity and incident reports, and immediately notify management of serious incidents. Work morning, swing, or graveyard shifts in the Downtown Los Angeles/Skid Row area, reporting to work with reliable transportation and a working cellphone.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid and current California BSIS Guard Card
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Comfortable working in the Downtown Los Angeles/Skid Row area
  • Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to report to scheduled shifts consistently
  • Strong communication, observation, and customer-service skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful or confrontational situations
  • Ability to write clear and detailed activity and incident reports
  • Reliable transportation or another dependable method of reporting to work
  • Working cellphone for communication
  • Professional appearance and compliance with all uniform and grooming requirements
  • Successful completion of all applicable company screening and onboarding requirements
  • Availability for assigned holidays when scheduled
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to conduct interior and exterior patrols throughout the assigned shift
  • Ability to climb stairs and work in varying weather conditions when required
  • Ability to remain alert and responsive throughout morning, swing, or graveyard shifts
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Confirmation that they understand parking is not provided

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in permanent supportive housing, residential security, affordable housing, social-service environments, or similar assignments
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, behavioral health challenges, or substance-use concerns
  • Previous training or experience in verbal de-escalation, crisis response, access control, and incident reporting
  • Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills
