Job Summary
Perform repair and maintenance tasks as outlined in repair orders, diagnose vehicle malfunctions, and complete comprehensive 360-point inspections. Conduct road tests to ensure repair efficacy and vehicle safety, while documenting all work performed on repair orders accurately. Coordinate with the parts department for timely component availability and tag warranty parts appropriately. Communicate additional vehicle needs to service advisors promptly and adhere to OSHA and EPA safety standards consistently. This entry-level position supports a growing dealership group with a focus on building skills toward advanced technician certifications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- State-required inspection/emissions certifications
- Suspension & Steering certification
- Brakes certification
- Electrical/Electronic Systems (Auto/Light Truck) certification
- Ability to obtain Suspension & Steering, Brakes, and Electrical/Electronic Systems certifications quickly
- Basic automotive diagnostic and repair skills
- Own hand tools
- Ability to lift 40 lbs
- Ability to stand/sit 8-hour shifts
- Ability to enter/exit vehicles freely
- Strong attention to detail
- Clear communication with advisors/parts staff
- Commitment to OSHA/CDC safety protocols
Desired Qualifications
- Vocational/technical school certificate or associate degree in Automotive Technology
- Coursework in automotive systems
- ASE student certification
- Completion of a recognized automotive training program
- Prior quick-lube, tire shop, or basic maintenance experience
- 6+ months automotive service experience in a dealership or independent repair shop
- Familiarity with multi-point inspections
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools
- Familiarity with manufacturer-specific service procedures
- Strong customer-focused mindset
- Eagerness to learn advanced diagnostics
- Basic computer/technology skills for digital repair orders
- Teamwork orientation
- Motivation to progress toward B- and A-Level Technician certifications
