Job Summary
Lubricate and service all transit vehicles and equipment, using steam machines to clean engine compartments and components as needed. Repair buses, trucks, and automobiles by replacing water pumps, generators, tires, and batteries while adjusting lighting, electrical, and air conditioning systems. Remove, repair, and install engines, transmissions, and accessory units, including maintaining compressed natural gas fuel systems. Perform preventive maintenance inspections, tune-ups, and in-frame over-hauls, then clean work areas after each job. Start buses for morning pullouts and operate vehicles, forklifts, and tractors as required. Make emergency road calls, drive to dealerships for offsite repairs, and calculate specifications for installing vehicle components. Requires one to two years of motor vehicle experience and a Texas Class B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements. Schedule runs Saturday through Wednesday with shift differentials for evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- One to two years experience servicing, maintaining and repairing motor vehicles, transit buses, heavy equipment, or related equipment
- A Texas Class B CDL driver's license (with air brake and passenger endorsements), or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment
- Must be available for Saturday through Wednesday
- Must be available for Thursday and Friday off days
