Job Summary
Conduct instrumental activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, transfer, and mobility assistance, while supporting resident dignity, privacy, and independence. Provide services outlined in resident service plans, observe status changes, and communicate needs to nurses or designated agents. Maintain clean, safe environments, adhere to infection control and emergency procedures, and record resident information accurately. Review assignments with supervisors, read staff communication records, and receive shift reports. Maintain CPR/First Aid certification and complete mandatory in-service training.
Required Qualifications
- Highschool diploma/GED
- CNA when required by the state
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English
- Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant program with current license
- 18 – 24 months experience in a similar position
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Attendance at mandatory in-service training
- Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position
- Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for Resident
- Receives and gives report from the previous shift
- Reviews assignments with Designated Supervisor
- Reads the staff communication records and maintains familiarity with Resident records as required
- Assists with instrumental activities of daily living, ADL's, environmental orientation, assistance with other care while encouraging self-care and independence
- Provides services as indicated on Resident service plans, including but not limited to bathing assistance, toileting assistance, transfer, and mobility assistance
- Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures
- Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for Residents, staff, and visitors
- Observes changes in Resident status, needs, or preferences and communicates them appropriately
- Adheres to all established policies and procedures
- Records Resident information as required
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety, and other emergency situations
- Notifies nurse, and/or designated agent(s) of Resident status/change as appropriate
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
