Job Summary
Manage procurement of raw materials, components, and production supplies by developing supplier relationships, preparing RFQs, and negotiating pricing and contracts. Issue purchase orders, resolve shortages, and expedite critical materials to ensure products arrive on time and within budget. Partner with Engineering, Production, Shipping, and Quality to support manufacturing schedules while analyzing purchasing data to identify cost savings. Monitor inventory levels and ERP-driven processes to drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers a consistent Monday-Friday schedule (7:00 AM–3:30 PM) with a base salary of $70,000–$80,000 for a Senior Buyer at a stable manufacturing organization in Harrison, MI.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buying experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience purchasing manufactured components, machined parts, raw materials, castings, fabrication, MRO, or similar industrial products
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of reducing costs and improving supplier performance
- Experience working within ERP/MRP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, JobBoss, etc.)
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication, organization, and follow-up skills
- Associate's degree or equivalent industry experience
