Job Summary
Manage purchasing and procurement of construction materials for active remodeling projects while sourcing, negotiating pricing, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. Coordinate material ordering schedules with production, installation, warehouse, and project management teams, and track purchase orders, invoices, deliveries, backorders, and inventory levels. Monitor project budgets to control material costs and purchasing variances, ensuring materials meet specifications and installation timelines. Resolve delivery discrepancies, shortages, and damaged goods, and research alternative products to improve cost efficiency. Support field teams with urgent material requests and assist leadership in developing purchasing processes and operational efficiencies.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of purchasing, procurement, or buyer experience within construction, remodeling, building supply, or related industries
- Strong understanding of residential construction materials including: Lumber, Drywall, Flooring, Trim and finish materials, Cabinets, Plumbing and electrical materials, Doors/windows, Hardware and specialty products
- Experience working with vendors, contractors, warehouses, and field operations
- Strong negotiation and cost-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple active projects and priorities simultaneously
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, purchasing software, ERP systems, or construction management platforms
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in residential remodeling or basement finishing
- Knowledge of local construction suppliers and distribution networks
- Familiarity with scheduling, logistics, and inventory coordination
- Experience supporting multi-market or multi-crew operations
