Job Summary
Buyer/Planner I is responsible for efficiently managing the assigned group of items and suppliers to deliver high inventory turns and strong customer service, using replenishment methods to minimize slow/obsolete stock and scrap while maximizing availability, including hedge builds and new product introduction support. The role involves developing and managing databases to ensure systems run smoothly (Kanban, MRP, lead-times, safety stock, expediting), and owning tactical day-to-day supplier relationships. It requires collaborating across teams to harvest cost-down opportunities, monitoring supplier performance, and communicating with overseas teams or suppliers occasionally in the evenings or weekends. The position emphasizes teamwork, problem solving, and quality improvement processes. Preferred: CPIM. The role may require infrequent overnight travel. Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing, material control or related fields
- Strong analytical problem solving ability
- Proficient in MS Office
- Good oral and written communications skills
- Willing to make infrequent overnight travel
