Job Summary
Manage purchasing requirements for outsourced machining services, coordinating sourcing for cutting tools, turning, coating, and plating. Work directly with suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms while monitoring performance to prevent production delays. Support vendor selection, relationship management, and VMI initiatives, maintaining accurate supplier information. Identify opportunities to improve cost, material availability, and overall supplier performance. This role supports the broader manufacturing team, which currently includes three buyers managing segmented responsibilities across multiple purchasing functions.
Required Qualifications
- CNC machining background
- Understanding of machining processes and manufacturing requirements
- Familiarity with cutting tools, turning, coating, and plating
- Experience working directly with machining suppliers
- Comfortable communicating with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams
- Strong organization and follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple suppliers and purchasing requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Previous purchasing or buying experience
- VMI or managed replenishment experience
- ERP experience
