Job Summary
A senior Own Brand Buyer for Menswear Casual at John Lewis Partnership. You will own the development and commercial success of the Menswear Own Brand Casual category, leading range planning, product development, sourcing, and supplier negotiations to build a high-margin assortment. You’ll manage relationships with suppliers and internal teams, coach the buying team, and collaborate across Merchandising, Trading, Design, and Product Technology to deliver market-leading ranges and lifecycle strategies. The role requires strong trend awareness, category expertise, and the ability to drive in-season trading while achieving commercial KPIs. The position is fixed-term until April 2027, based at the London head office with a hybrid working pattern (minimum three days in the office). Responsibilities include: leading end-to-end product development and range planning, maintaining brand relationships and terms, negotiating favorable supplier terms, collaborating with Merchandising to align on range plans, and supporting team development and cross-department projects. Essential skills cover ownership of category strategy, market knowledge, stakeholder communication, and the ability to balance commercial KPIs with brand and customer strategy.
Required Qualifications
- Experienced Own Brand buyer
- End to end product development experience
- Good negotiation skills and experience in leading strategic commercial negotiations with suppliers
- Understanding of product trends, customer preferences, and industry dynamics
- Direct experience in range planning, product assortment development within the category
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders
