Job Summary
The Buyer is responsible for purchasing all materials, supplies, and equipment at the best price, quality and delivery to satisfy requisitioner requirements. Duties include supporting CAPEX expansion procurement, creating purchase orders, soliciting bids, evaluating suppliers on price/quality/service/reliability, analyzing proposals and data to determine reasonable prices, administering master services agreements and contracts, negotiating with suppliers, confirming corrective actions for defective goods, maintaining ERP records, conducting vendor-managed inventory reorders, performing regular counts and year-end audit preparations, and providing recommendations for procedural improvements. Requires knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, CAPEX/MRO purchasing, strong negotiation and supplier-development skills, and the ability to interpret contracts and business documents.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of 5 years purchasing experience in an industrial manufacturing facility
- Working knowledge of MRP/ERP computerized inventory or purchasing systems
- MRO & CAPEX experience is required
- Strong interpersonal skills in communication, contract negotiations, supplier sourcing and supplier development
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents and contracts
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints
- Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all related purchasing responsibilities
- Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with the ability to build multiple spreadsheets which can be transformed into clear and concise reports
