Job Summary
The Buyer/Expeditor is responsible for the purchase and delivery of project materials and equipment in line with schedule requirements. This role includes developing purchasing strategies, preparing and approving bids, managing the bidding process, and ensuring timely delivery of materials while coordinating closely with engineering and project teams. Key responsibilities involve preparing bid documents, coordinating with vendors, overseeing purchase order administration, and expediting materials to minimize delays. Candidates should have 5-12 years of relevant experience, strong interpersonal and planning skills, and a high degree of technical understanding in materials management and procurement.
Required Qualifications
- 5-12 years’ experience as a Buyer or Expeditor
- Experience working on large or complex projects
- High degree of technical aptitude and familiarity with various materials, fabrication processes and supply items
- Ability to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of procurement, contracting, pre-operational verification and commissioning methodologies
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualification or trade qualification in relevant discipline
- Working knowledge of SmartPlant system (or similar) is advantageous
- Knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO 19011
