Job Summary
Bechtel Buyer supports formation and issuance of purchase orders, administers purchase orders, and communicates with suppliers and project personnel to ensure adherence to requirements and terms. Responsibilities include bidder pre-qualification and lists, bid solicitation and analysis, making commitments, expediting to meet project needs, and mobilization to project sites as needed. Requires engineering degree and 0-2 years of industry experience; strong procurement knowledge, supplier communication, contract terms negotiation, and monitoring of supplier performance. Role may start in any Bechtel office location and later mobilize to site.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- 0-2 years of industry experience
- Proficiency in formation and administration of purchase orders
- Knowledge of procurement processes: bidder prequalification, bid requests, bid analysis, and award of commitments
- Ability to source items of moderate complexity under light supervision
- Knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code or applicable commercial legislation
- Effective communication with suppliers and internal project teams
- Ability to monitor supplier performance and schedule realism
