Job Summary
Execute daily purchasing functions by managing end-to-end buying requirements, maintaining vendor files, and analyzing new and existing items to ensure competitive pricing and profitability. Manage vendor relationships to optimize costs and delivery terms, track market price trends for key commodities, and prepare reports on buying metrics and savings for management. Develop sourcing strategies and supplier programs including performance scorecards and risk assessments, while working with Accounts Payable to ensure vendor accounts remain in good standing. Prepare customer proposals based on client specifications and analyze supplier quotations to select cost-effective options without sacrificing quality. Work core business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm Eastern standard time Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications
- Some post secondary technical training from an accredited institution
- Minimum 2 years experience in buying
- Strong mathematical skills
- Excellent analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication/documentation skills
- Knowledge of effective negotiation skills and how to apply them to standard business transactions
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and schedule priorities
- Self-motivated, detail oriented and the ability to process confidential and/or controlled information
- Strong Microsoft office skills
- Ability to work in a team and autonomously with little direction
- Candidates who are 18 years or older are required to complete a criminal and background check
