Job Summary
Buyer role supporting purchasing and materials management under AS9100; issues and tracks purchase orders for standard parts and services, solicits quotes, verifies supplier documentation, maintains ERP/MRP data with traceability, supports ITAR/DFARS compliance and flow-down clauses, coordinates with receiving quality and AP, and assists with audits. Buyer II/III responsibilities expand to procurement of build-to-print parts, negotiating pricing and delivery, monitoring supplier performance, driving cost reduction, ensuring auditable AS9100-compliant documentation, participating in SCARs and supplier reviews, and mentoring junior buyers. Requirements evolve from educational background in supply chain/related fields to increasing years of aerospace procurement experience, with preferred certifications (APICS CSCP, ISM CPSM, NCMA CPCM) and advanced degrees in later levels.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s in supply chain, Business, or related field preferred (Buyer I)
- 0–2 years in purchasing, logistics, or related function (aerospace preferred) (Buyer I)
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, or Industrial Engineering preferred (Buyer II)
- 3–5 years of aerospace or manufacturing procurement experience (Buyer II)
- Certifications such as APICS CSCP, ISM CPSM, or NCMA CPCM are desirable (Buyer II)
- Bachelor’s in business, Supply Chain, or Engineering required; MBA preferred (Buyer III)
- 6+ years of aerospace or defense procurement experience, including contract management (Buyer III)
- Advanced certifications (CPSM, CSCP, or CPM) preferred (Buyer III)
- ITAR requirements and US Person status requirement (due to ITAR)
- ERP/MRP systems proficiency (Abas, Epicor, SAP, Oracle)
- Experience with quality/audits and documentation in AS9100 environments
- Ability to coordinate with planning, engineering, and quality teams
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Lead negotiations and supplier relationship management
- Ability to mentor junior buyers (Buyer III)
- Proficiency with MS Office and ERP/MRP analytics
