Job Summary
Buyer at AM General responsible for sourcing complex components for prototype, pre-production, and production requirements, providing part availability and pricing data, negotiating and administering contracts and purchase orders, performing price analysis and cost negotiations, developing cost-reduction opportunities, strategically planning cost-saving initiatives, managing material shortages, evaluating suppliers to meet production needs, and supporting new business proposals including engines and powertrain programs; requires a BA/BS in a related field and 0-2+ years procurement experience, with strong computer, teamwork, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Location is Auburn Hills, MI with on-site work; travel up to 10% is possible.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in a related field (Supply Management, Business, or Engineering)
- 0-2+ years of procurement experience
- Strong computer skills required (Word, Excel, SAP)
- Teamwork skills required
- Analytical thinking, negotiating, and problem-solving skills required
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
