Job Summary

Receive and analyze requisitions to determine quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements. From the approved supplier list, recommend and select suppliers to fulfill scheduled plant deliveries while ensuring up-to-date ABC classification is maintained. Conduct vendor onboarding activities, training, and periodic site visits to implement processes and drive continuous improvement. Ensure optimal inventory levels and safety stock are maintained for parts, coordinate with Quality Assurance to resolve quality issues, and maintain proactive shortage identification and management. Expedite deliveries to meet critical requirements, analyze material and capacity availability to provide customer promise dates, and maintain and evaluate supplier performance. Resolve invoicing discrepancies with suppliers and accounting, communicate forecasts and replenishment plans, and interface with required functional groups to resolve challenging delivery requirements. Maintain product knowledge in terms of options, substitutions, and critical functions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years minimum planner/buyer manufacturing experience
  • Certification in production and inventory management
  • Considerable knowledge of industry related supply base
  • Skilled in production and supplier scheduling
  • Knowledgeable of supplier processes and capabilities
  • Able to provide directions and training to peers as needed
  • Computer proficient with ERP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes
  • Experience with visual management systems
