Job Summary
Coordinate procurement activities for materials, products, and services to support daily operations, ensuring orders are delivered on schedule in a cost-effective manner while meeting quality and corporate standards. Analyze material requirements including specifications and preferred suppliers, then solicit and evaluate proposals by interviewing potential vendors to determine compliance with specified needs. Negotiate the lowest possible cost balanced against optimum quality and production needs, implement purchase contracts that comply with regulations, and track supplier performance across quality, service, cost, and delivery metrics. Maintain accurate records through ERP software and apply lean manufacturing concepts and 5S principles. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; proficient with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- High School Diploma/GED with 5 + years' purchasing experience
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers to include knowledge in the use of the Internet and software programs such as Microsoft Office products and ERP systems
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Must be able to multi-task effectively in a high paced environment
- Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment
- Must possess strong attention to details
- Must be able to perform successfully under minimum supervision
- Must be able to attain sufficient task success to establish credibility with management, staff and employees
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as an Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (A.P.P.), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Purchasing Professional (C.P.P.)
