Job Summary
Assist servers by delivering and refilling beverages, pre-bussing tables, and promptly resolving guest requests while maintaining table cleanliness with clean china, glassware, and linen. Break down trays of soiled dishes and linen in the dishroom, keep work areas properly stocked, and complete daily opening and closing duties. Answer the phone in an efficient manner and provide service to guests in the waiter's absence as needed. Maintain beverage levels at least three-quarters full and ensure overall guest satisfaction throughout the shift.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a hotel or a related field
- Flexible and long hours
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Ability to stand during entire shift
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
- Ability to listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Ability to approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner
- Ability to attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
- Ability to maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards
- Ability to maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Ability to comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations
- Ability to maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions
- Ability to handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
- Ability to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives
- Ability to cross-train in other hotel related areas
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Ability to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs
