Job Summary
Analyze user needs, translate them into requirements and user stories, and document system impacts across processes and clients. Create internal and external communications, review business and technical documentation, and support end-to-end validation during roll-outs. Develop and execute functional and integration test cases, validate solutions against requirements, and manage defect triage. Collaborate with Product Owners to refine backlogs, define acceptance criteria, and support sprint planning. Support production issues and post-release validation while ensuring stable solutions. Requires 3 to 5 years of progressive experience as a Business & Systems Analyst with both waterfall and agile methodologies. Bilingualism in French and English is required for Quebec locations.
Required Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of a wide variety of business concepts, practices, and procedures as they relate to IT and general insurance operations
- Demonstrate knowledge of business and/or technology platforms or ability to learn about technology and digital products
- Experience working with client facing technologies/digital engagement platforms
- Curiosity and adoption of emerging technologies
- Knowledge of Design Thinking principles
- Strong understanding of privacy, compliance, control, and security requirements
- Skilled in test execution and understanding the outcomes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and simply both complex business and technical concepts
- Ability to work and demonstrate cooperation in a matrixed team environment
- Experience with data & integration modelling
- Excellent multitasking, prioritization, and time management skills
- Comfortable working in ambiguous environments
- Works as a valued member of a strong, collaborative Agile team, partnering closely with Product Owners, developers, QA, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
- Demonstrates a willingness to contribute wherever needed, supporting analysis, testing, documentation, production support, and other team activities to help achieve sprint and release goals
- Develops and executes functional, integration, and user acceptance test cases, validates solutions against business requirements, and supports defect triage and resolution
- Collaborates with the Product Owner to refine and prioritize the product backlog, clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and support sprint planning and backlog grooming
- Takes ownership of end-to-end solution delivery, proactively identifying risks, removing blockers, and continuously improving team processes and delivery practices
- Applies strong knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and embraces a continuous learning mindset, adapting to changing priorities and business needs
- Strong background analyzing system data flows, procedural programming, and SQL for database querying and optimization
- Supports production issues and post-release validation, working collaboratively across teams to ensure stable, high-quality solutions and an excellent user experience
- Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide
- University degree in business or technology or equivalent experience
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience as a Business & Systems Analyst with both waterfall and agile methodologies
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with external vendors is an asset
- Experience with Equisoft solutions, insurance illustration systems, or financial planning/illustration platforms is considered a strong asset
- Familiarity with life insurance product configuration, illustration engines, and policy administration systems is an asset
