Job Summary
Business Manager (Assistant Community Manager) for an affordable apartment community in Salvator, Sacramento, CA. Responsible for on-site accounting (accounts payable/receivable, rent processing), supporting asset management (budgets, financial reports, cost controls), and overseeing leasing from inquiry to move-in. Maintains resident files, assists with marketing to fill vacancies, conducts apartment tours, processes applications, ensures occupancy targets, handles resident relations, and maintains move-in/move-out documentation. Will back up the Community Manager in their absence and participate in organizing resident events; prefers 1-2 years of affordable-housing experience and familiarity with HUD/LIHTC/PSH/Section 8 programs, with strong customer service and multitasking abilities. Proficiency with MS Office; Yardi/MRI experience is a plus; role requires on-site presence in Sacramento, CA. The position offers full benefits and a pay range of $23.00-$24.00 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in affordable apartment communities
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred
- Experience with affordable properties, HUD, LIHTC, PSH, Section 8, Senior, Rural Development (RD) is required
- Strong understanding of day-to-day multi-family operations including leasing, financial reporting, and resident services
- Proven success in maintaining high occupancy rates
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with Yardi and/or MRI is a plus
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds
