Job Summary

Conduct competitive intelligence and market research to support client development, pitches, and strategic firm priorities. Analyze companies, industries, and competitors using tools like PitchBook and Bloomberg Law to deliver SWOT analyses, executive profiles, and deal transaction reports. Proactively monitor lateral attorney movement, regulatory developments, and economic conditions to identify whitespace opportunities and cross-practice expansion potential. Synthesize complex findings into polished, actionable deliverables for attorneys, business professionals, and leadership while managing recurring intelligence products and research requests. Collaborate with Marketing, Recruiting, and Knowledge Management teams to optimize relationship-building and pipeline development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree
  • Approximately 2–4 years of relevant experience in competitive intelligence, business research, market analysis, legal research, or business-development support in a law firm, professional-services firm, consulting environment, financial-services setting, or similarly research-intensive environment
  • Strong research skills and experience synthesizing legal, business, financial, and market information into clear, concise work product
  • Excellent writing, editing, and executive-summary skills
  • Experience using research platforms such as PitchBook, Capital IQ, Bloomberg Law, LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar tools
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated comfort using AI-assisted research tools in a professional setting, with sound judgment and strong quality-control habits
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines with attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including comfort working with attorneys, business professionals, and senior stakeholders
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to turn ambiguous questions into decision-ready recommendations
  • High level of discretion and commitment to confidentiality
  • Bachelor's degree, English major preferred

Desired Qualifications

  • Law firm or other professional-services experience
  • Familiarity with CRM and experience databases
  • Background in library science, information science, knowledge management, or a related discipline
  • Exposure to corporate transactions, litigation trends, capital markets, private equity/venture capital, or other topics relevant to the firm's core practices
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools
