Job Summary
The Business Instructional Advisor supports the PIER Grant operations by providing professional instruction and advice to entrepreneurs and companies in the burn-scar region, focusing on business development education. Responsibilities include advising low to moderate-income (LMI) businesses, conducting household income surveys, and developing educational classes. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, private business experience, and community organization involvement. Essential skills include excellent communication, analytical abilities, and customer service, with the capacity to teach and present business development information effectively.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's of Science or Arts in business, marketing, information technology, economics, communications or a closely related field
- Private business experience as either an owner, a manager / director, or as an executive
- Prior experience working in community-based organizations, such as Chambers of Commerce, SCORE, Small Business Development Centers or other non-profit organization devoted to business development
- Two years' experience and knowledge of business assessment practices
- Knowledge of business lending practices and coaching businesses to be ready to make funding requests
- Experience in developing and presenting business development information to groups of people in an instructor's role
Desired Qualifications
- A Master's degree in a business or technical area from an accredited academic institution
- Experience with CRM or Enterprise Systems software
- Experience instructing students at either the Community College or University levels as regular or adjunct faculty
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to legally work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- This position must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver License
- The incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal Background Check
- Employment is contingent upon the continuation of funding
