Job Summary
Business Economist with PhD in Economics sought by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis to contribute to Economic Research Division goals. Responsibilities include providing expert economic analysis for pre-FOMC briefings and policy activities, advising the Bank President and senior leadership on economic conditions and risks, producing high-quality publishable research with an active pipeline of papers, contributing to public understanding through publications and outreach (speeches, presentations, media, and external forums), engaging with business executives and community leaders to glean insights on regional and national economic conditions, and advancing analytical tools through new data and techniques. Requires ability to communicate complex ideas, collaborate across diverse teams, and present to large audiences; preferred experience in media interactions.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Economics
- 5+ years of experience in economic analysis
- In-depth knowledge of the national and/or eighth district economy
- Strong skills in statistical software packages or programming languages as R, Python, Matlab, or similar languages
- Experience conducting independent research, applying academic research and writing economic commentary and analysis, or blog posts
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex ideas
- Ability to collaborate and establish successful relationships with a diverse group of people including users, team members, and management
- Experience presenting to large audiences and interacting with the media is also preferred
