Business Development Manager - New Construction

Job Summary

Develop relationships with architects, engineers, developers, contractors, and building owners to identify new construction and major renovation opportunities. Recruit eligible projects into the commercial new construction energy efficiency program by conducting outreach through calls, meetings, site visits, and industry events. Serve as the primary customer contact to guide participants through program requirements, coordinate technical services, and help secure available incentives. Maintain CRM systems, track project pipelines, and report on performance metrics while gathering market intelligence to support program growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, engineering, construction management, sustainability, architecture, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in account management, business development, outreach, sales, customer engagement, construction industry relations, energy efficiency, commercial real estate, architecture, engineering, or a related client-facing role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, building owners, facility managers, and other external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop customer pipelines, and successfully move prospects through a sales or recruitment process
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, customer relationships, and recruitment activities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to provide responsive, professional, and solutions-oriented support throughout the customer engagement process
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience using CRM systems, spreadsheets, project tracking tools, and customer management platforms
  • Commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and advancing high-performance building design and clean energy outcomes
  • Must be in the office at least three days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with commercial real estate developers, architects, engineering firms, contractors, design-build firms, construction managers, or building owners
  • Experience supporting utility-sponsored energy efficiency, new construction, demand-side management, or building performance programs
  • Familiarity with commercial building systems, HVAC, lighting, controls, building envelope technologies, and energy-efficient design practices
  • Existing relationships within architecture, engineering, construction, commercial real estate, institutional, healthcare, higher education, or public-sector building markets
  • Familiarity with energy modeling, design reviews, commissioning, energy assessments, incentives, LEED, energy codes, or high-performance building programs
  • Familiarity with the commercial construction and building development market
  • Experience managing customer pipelines, project forecasting, CRM systems, and performance goals in a target-driven environment
