Business Development Manager to expand Rochester market for an employee benefits, insurance, retirement, and HR consulting firm. Responsibilities include developing and executing a strategic BD plan to generate new opportunities in the Rochester market, proactively engaging prospective clients through networking, referrals, community involvement, cold outreach, and relationship-building, building and maintaining relationships with business owners and executive stakeholders, representing the organization at industry events and professional associations, establishing referral partnerships, scheduling introductory meetings between prospective clients and employee benefits consultants, collaborating with consultants to transition opportunities through the sales process, maintaining a disciplined pipeline with CRM-tracked activity, staying informed on market trends and competitive activity, and serving as a brand ambassador. Skills and qualifications emphasize strong networking, ability to work independently within a team, excellent verbal/written/presentation skills, CRM proficiency, and experience in relevant industries.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of business development, sales, account management, relationship management, or client-facing experience
  • Life, Accident & Health License, or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe following hire
  • Demonstrated success generating leads, opening doors, and developing professional relationships
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage executive-level decision-makers
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Experience within payroll, staffing, HR technology, banking, insurance, professional services, or a related industry is strongly preferred
  • Active involvement in professional associations, networking groups, or community organizations is a plus
  • Ability and willingness to attend networking events and meetings outside of traditional business hours when necessary
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office applications
