Business Development Manager - Data Centre / Building & Infrastructure

Job Summary

Develop and execute business development strategy for data centre construction, building, and infrastructure services in Malaysia. Assess market opportunities, customer needs, technical feasibility, and commercial potential for new commissioning, QA/QC, and inspection service offerings. Build and manage a qualified pipeline across data centre owners, hyperscalers, colocation providers, developers, EPCs, contractors, consultants, and facility management companies. Identify, qualify, and convert new project opportunities through customer meetings, market intelligence, networking, proposals, tender support, and commercial follow-up. Work with technical teams to translate customer requirements into practical service scopes, value propositions, and go-to-market offerings. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts including major industry players. Track market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to support growth decisions. Prepare proposals, tender responses, and presentation materials in collaboration with technical teams. Lead commercial discussions, clarify requirements, and support negotiations until project conversion. Maintain accurate CRM records and sales forecasts to achieve revenue targets. Represent SGS professionally at industry events and customer meetings. Adhere to SGS Code of Integrity, commercial policies, and HSE requirements. Travel up to 75% of the time for site visits and networking.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management, Business, Marketing or other related studies
  • More than 5–10 years of experience in business development, sales, key account management or market development within Building & Infrastructure, construction, MEP, technical services, TIC, consultancy or related sectors
  • Able and willing to travel up to 75% of the time for customer meetings, site visits, industry networking and project opportunity development

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of exposure to data centre construction, mission-critical facilities, factory / industrial projects or related project ecosystem
  • Proven track record in developing new customers, building project pipelines, preparing proposals, managing stakeholders and converting opportunities into revenue
  • Experience engaging with developers, contractors, EPCs, consultants, facility managers, data centre operators, factory owners or infrastructure customers
  • Good understanding of data centre construction lifecycle, commissioning, QA/QC, MEP systems, project delivery and customer procurement processes
