Job Summary
Business Development Manager to drive strategic initiatives within the mission-critical data center industry. Responsibilities include building relationships with key decision-makers, increasing specification influence, expanding market penetration, driving direct sales to Data Center End Users, Colocation Providers, Hyperscale Companies, and Enterprise Data Centers, and managing full project lifecycles from opportunity tracking through contract negotiation and billing. The role involves conducting site surveys, developing scopes of work, preparing proposals, leading customer presentations (in person and via Teams), updating CRM, staying informed on industry trends, and collaborating with engineering, marketing, and product teams to optimize sales strategies. Requires strong networking within Data Center sectors, consultative sales experience, and the ability to travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience in Business Development, Sales, or Account Management within the Data Center Industry
- Focusing on Commercial HVAC Cooling / Mechanical Systems and Solutions
- Established network within the Hyperscale, Colocation, and Enterprise Data Center sectors
- Have an Established network of: Resellers, Engineering Firms, Manufacturer’s Reps, Construction Firms, and Design-Build Firms to help foster leads for future Data Center projects
- Experience selling infrastructure solutions, energy efficiency products, cooling towers, chillers, or heat exchangers
- Strong knowledge of project lifecycle sales (FPLC), from prospecting and specification development to contract negotiation and execution
- Ability to travel as needed
- Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Active member of professional organizations such as 7x24 Exchange, ASHRAE, DCD, Uptime Institute, Bisnow, AFCOM, and iMasons
- Engineering skills in writing and developing design specifications a huge plus
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or construction management a plus
