Job Summary

Business Development Manager – Air & Ocean responsible for establishing multiple contacts and building advocate relationships across customer organizations, identifying opportunities to grow revenue, and managing a sales pipeline to meet or exceed net revenue goals. Develops customer knowledge of business and market to tailor value propositions in freight forwarding (ocean & air) solutions, collaborates with product and other sales channels, advances face-to-face meetings, and shapes strategic bids. Requires experience in 3PL/international freight forwarding, strong negotiation and presentation skills, CRM proficiency (Dynamics 365), Incoterms knowledge, willingness to travel within a ~300 mile radius, and the ability to independently plan, prioritize, and close opportunities while driving profitability and market share. Fluent English (bilingual a plus) and a collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset are valued; location in Des Plaines, IL area with travel as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the 3PL or International Freight Forwarding industry
  • Strong persuasion skills, work-ethic, integrity and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong working knowledge of Freight Forwarding services, supply chain, including ocean & air (export & import)
  • Familiar with Incoterms issued by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)
  • Able to achieve results by setting high standards and committing to clear objectives
  • Located within 300 miles proximity of the sales territory and willingness to travel
  • Able to make decisions independently in a creative and effective manner, as well as plan and prioritize effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM considered a strong asset
  • Demonstrated negotiation and sales strategies experience
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Values a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Strong ability to establish and manage relationships with varying levels of stakeholders
  • Fluency in written & spoken English; bilingual capability considered a plus
