Job Summary

Lead business development for Abt Australia’s international development portfolio, driving growth through opportunity identification, capture leadership, and end-to-end proposal development. Responsibilities include managing bid teams and timelines, shaping technical and resourcing approaches, supporting pricing strategy, cultivating client and partner relationships, representing Abt in external engagements, and driving market intelligence and strategic planning to expand Abt’s footprint across priority markets. The role entails leading collaboration across BD, technical, operational, and global teams, mentoring junior BD staff, and ensuring compliant, high-quality proposals from capture through award.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in business development, capture, or strategic growth roles
  • Proven experience developing and winning competitive bids (ideally DFAT or international donor programs)
  • Strong pipeline development, capture planning, and proposal leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build strategic client and partner relationships
  • Commercial acumen, including pricing and positioning strategies
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in international development, particularly within the Indo-Pacific
  • Familiarity with Australian government procurement processes
