Business Development and Operations Coordinator
$60,000–$75,000 year
On-siteMount Vernon, Iowa, United States
Job Summary
Coordinate truck assignments by contacting dispatchers and owner-operators to confirm counts, locations, and daily schedules while flagging potential delays. Own pricing and scope decisions by gathering job details, building quotes, and tracking every opportunity until it is won, lost, or scheduled. Learn the dust control operation by mastering routing, refill locations, and how weather impacts scheduling to connect sales, estimating, and logistics. Make independent calls to drivers and subcontractors without extended deliberation, ensuring no opportunity goes cold. Work directly with the general manager and ownership during peak season, which includes additional hours beyond the standard Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Strong communicator who's comfortable coordinating by phone and text with drivers, subcontractors, and customers throughout the day
- A genuine follow-through habit — you track things to completion and don't let opportunities go cold
- Quick, sound judgment — comfortable making calls without needing extended deliberation, but not reckless
- Comfortable with ambiguity and a business that's still building its systems
- A commercial mindset — you understand that idle trucks and equipment aren't making money
Desired Qualifications
- Class B CDL, or willingness to work toward one
- Experience operating equipment (loaders, etc.)
- Background in dispatch, logistics, estimating, or a trades-adjacent field
- Comfort adopting new tools and tracking systems rather than working entirely off phone calls and texts
