Job Summary
Screen and triage all response-related calls, transferring inquiries to the appropriate subject matter experts while documenting actions in the EOC Database Support System. Serve as the communication liaison between the Emergency Operations Center, supported Centers, Institutes, and external partners, receiving and distributing response reports as requested. Triage Requests for Information, Assistance, and Resources, then coordinate with task forces to meet support requirements. Follow established Standard Operating Procedures to assess information and maintain the Shift Change Log for oncoming shift briefings. Track critical actions for monthly reporting and update protocols related to call triage when required. This part-time, 100% onsite role involves weekday and weekend on-call coverage, including A and B shifts, supporting CDC's CDCReady Responder Program in Atlanta.
Required Qualifications
- Junior (BA/BS in Public Health, or similar, with 2+ years work experience, or 4+ years work experience in an Emergency Operations Center environment)
- 0–2 years of Operations Center experience required
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
- Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook Mail)
- Ability to effectively communicate needs at all briefings to assist with operational strategy
- Ability to follow precise protocol for disseminating information to callers
- Ability to identify gaps in existing resources
- Ability to multitask in emergency situations
- Ability to be flexible with a strong sense of urgency
- Interpersonal communication: telephone, email, and business etiquette
- Strong proofreading skill and attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to follow protocols and procedures set forth by a provided set of instructions
- Proactive problem solver, actively addressing issues that arise through proper channels and within existing parameters
