Job Summary
Conduct business analysis activities on medium to large application initiatives within EPCOR's IS Major Capital portfolio, ensuring functional requirements are clearly understood, documented, and delivered throughout the system development lifecycle. Analyze information needs, procedures, decisions, and data flows to evaluate and improve business and application processes, researching and recommending solutions that align with SDLC standards, scope, schedule, and quality expectations. Support project outcomes by providing analysis input to end users and cross-functional teams while maintaining stakeholder alignment and accountability. Gather, document, and communicate requirements to build shared understanding among technical and business groups. This role supports major application capital projects addressing real business challenges within EPCOR's Information Services team across the North American footprint. Candidates will work onsite at EPCOR Tower in Edmonton, AB, with a hybrid schedule requiring two days onsite per week.
Required Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Business, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience in business analysis for IT projects in the corporate and/or utilities space
- Experience serving as the primary BA on medium-to-large, multi-phase IT initiatives, with ownership of requirements, stakeholder engagement, testing support, implementation activities, and business validation throughout the solution delivery lifecycle
- Proven success in independently leading analysis efforts with limited direction, translating ambiguous challenges into structured approaches and delivering completed outcomes
- Strong knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including custom built and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions
- Experience working in Agile and/or iterative delivery environments
- Proficiency with standard business analysis techniques, templates, and documentation practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess end-to-end business processes and data flows
- Strong facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and changing business requirements
- Strong work ethic and professional approach when working in a visible Information Services environment
- Candidates must reside in Edmonton or the surrounding area, or within a 90-minute commute of the primary work location
- Employees are expected to work onsite at least two days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely on the remaining days
- At least 18 years of age
- Successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education)
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks
- Candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions
- Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing
Desired Qualifications
- A BA certification (or actively pursuing one), such as ECBA, CCBA, CBAP, or equivalent Business Analysis professional development
- BA experience with IT projects in the Utilities sector
