Job Summary

Provide contractual and risk advice in the United States regarding business development, project procurement, formation, execution, claims, and business compliance. Develop and negotiate contractual documentation including Teaming Agreements, JV contracts, Project Head Agreements, and key vendor terms while liaising with corporate legal counsel in the US, Canada, and Europe. Oversee dispute litigation involving company operations and direct the risk and contractual aspects of Financial Close on major infrastructure projects. Maintain compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and implement risk management tools with functional leaders. Offer legal and commercial support for contracts, tenders, procurement, and construction, including advice on bonds, warranties, and guarantees. This role supports Hitachi Rail's global infrastructure projects and major infrastructure business development.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of law practice experience within the United States
  • Law Degree from an accredited institution or similar relevant education
  • Membership in a Law Society
  • English Proficiency
  • The chosen candidate can work 100% remotely
  • Preference will be given to those who can be based in either Pittsburgh, PA, or Hagerstown MD

Desired Qualifications

  • In-depth understanding of Common Law relating to construction/contracts and commercial transactions domestically and an awareness of international particularities
  • Holistic understanding of the construction business and experience reaching commercial settlements in disputes
  • Demonstrated success providing leading-edge advice on large infrastructure business development and execution
  • Proven expertise in solving problems and developing innovative strategies to succeed
  • Proactive client relationship management skills with various points of contact within the organization
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills in complex and at times adversarial situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple internal and external parties on large scale projects and operations
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results and drive to succeed
  • Ability to manage (plan/organize/prioritize) multiple tasks/priorities
  • A proven transaction leader with demonstrated ability to close deals
  • Highly effective language, communication and presentation skills
