Bus Video Technician & Student Management Lead - Transportation (2026-2027)

Job Summary
Monitor, maintain, and manage the District's video software and camera systems for transportation to ensure safe and efficient services. Review and maintain cameras and radios on buses, prepare and maintain the video library in accordance with FERPA regulations, and perform spot checks on retrieved footage. Serve as liaison with campuses to communicate with school administrators regarding student behavior and irregularities in electronic systems. Process student referrals and behavior forms from Bus Conduct Software, coordinate monthly student management meetings, and assist in budget planning for equipment purchases. Maintain accurate inventory records and a preventative maintenance schedule for all video, radio, GPS, and backup camera systems.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements or willing to get within 90 days
- Completion of 20-hour School Bus Driver Certification Class
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical/drug test
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work well with staff, visitors, and community members
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
- Ability to work inside
- Ability to work alone
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to perform repetitive hand motions
- Ability to engage in frequent keyboarding and use of mouse
- Ability to perform regular sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Ability to perform occasional light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds)
- Ability to work with frequent interruption
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of bus video equipment
- Understanding of basic video and radio operation
- Knowledge of federal, state and board policy as related to transportation
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Basic desktop computer knowledge
- Two years of experience working with electronic equipment diagnosis and repair
- History of strong student management skills
